英文摘要 | In his 1917 essay The Need for a Recovery of Philosophy, John Dewey wrote that “philosophy recovers itself when it ceases to be a device for dealing with the problems of philosophers and becomes a method, cultivated by philosophers, for dealing with the problems of men.” In this essay the author argues that this is also true for philosophy of education in that it should focus on educational rather than on philosophical problems by using its philosophical expertise. This is not only an intellectual but also a political task, particularly in a time in which the idea of education as a public good is under pressure and education is increasingly seen as a private or an economic good. The author outline five areas in which education philosopher can make a contribution, which all not only provide an agenda for future work in philosophy of education, but also construct an argument for the philosophy of education that turns to existentialism. The author believes that such a turn embraces “beautiful risk” in all education. |
