Pay Differentials among School Teachers Serving the Northwestern Rural Western China:Empirical Evidence from Gansu Province
Teachers' salaries in the rural China are closely related to teacher composition, teacher quality, education opportunity equality and social justice, thus can never be overemphasized. Based on The Gansu Survey of Children and Families (GSCF, 2004), the author would like to explore the teacher salary structure and the pattern of teachers' pay differentials in the rural Northwestern China. The empirical results reveal that teachers serving rural population are not equally paid, the salary structure in rural Gansu is complicated and explains part of pay variance.
