在过去30余年里，由于政策与实践上的忽视，中等教育已经成为撒哈拉以南非洲整个教育体系中最为簿弱的一环。加速推进中等教育的发展到已成为撒哈拉以南非洲极待解决的一个问题。当前，该地区各国政府与国际捐赠组织正在携手制定中等教育复兴策略，以期使其适应21世纪社会经济与教育发展的需要。

In the past 30 years， secondary education has been the weakest link in the education systems of Sub─Saharan Africa because of the neglect in education policy and practice. Accelerating the development of second education is becoming an urgent challenge. Today， the governments in SSA and international donate communities have formulated the strategies for renewal， so that the secondary education of SSA can adapt the development of society， economy and education in 21 century.
