Taiwan Indigenous Community School in Qing Dynasty
Emperor Kangxi began the establishment of community schools in Taiwan indigenous tribes during Qing dynasty, and a large number of schools were established during the Emperor Yongzheng period. Even though the amount of indigenous community schools began to decrease during the periods of Emperor Daoguang and Tongzhi, the community schools in indigenous tribes still existed during the Guangxu Emperor period. Research on indigenous community schools were broadly identified that it taught the Confucian classics and belonged to basic education, in which at the same time converted indigenous peoples to be Han-Hwa. The objective of this article was to describe the development, teacher, curriculum and teaching materials, and the impact of indigenous community schools during the Qing dynasty.
