英文摘要 | Based on interviews with 30 faculty members conducted in a public research university in the U.S., this study employs qualitative research methods to investigate various actions taken by different disciplinary organizations in faculty evaluation reform since 2006. Four departments are selected: Department of Mathematics represents Natural Sciences; Department of Mechanical Science and Engineering represents Engineering; Department of History represents Humanities; Department of Accountancy represents Social Sciences. The study reveals that in face of the unified faculty evaluation policy at the university level, different disciplinary organizations tend to take different echo actions in the reform. These differences are resulted from diversified disciplinary culture constituted by the characteristics of knowledge, social and value orientation. |
