Facing the Future and Meeting the Challenges: A Review of the 3rd International Symposium on Liberal Arts Education

Liberal arts education is an important way for universities to cope with challenges and face the future. In order to cultivate future talents， the liberal arts philosophy is given new meaning and those universities with the liberal arts tradition advance with the times in innovative ways. Liberal arts education emphasizes on ＂people-oriented＂， the cultivation of students' transferable abilities and the reform of traditional teaching paradigm. In response to the challenge of globalization， liberal arts education strives to promote multicultural communication on the basis of cultivating students' cultural self-confidence. As a way of localization， Chinese universities focus on exploring the establishment of a combination of general education and professional education system.
