大學學者國際學術移動因素之多層次分析

An In-Depth Hierarchical Linear Analysis of Factors Influencing the International Academic Mobility among University Professors

近年來學者國際學術移動因素為各國關注的焦點，但相關研究多在單一層面進行分析，無法掌握不同層面因素對學者國際學術移動的影響。因此，本研究使用階層線性模式進行分析，探討學校層面與學者個人層面對學者國際學術移動的影響。本研究對32所大學共353位學者進行施測，使用多層次線性模式進行資料分析，獲得以下結論：一、解釋學者國際學術移動時不可忽略各大學學術聲望的差異；二、學者個人層面的學術產能、工作投入及外向性對其國際學術移動有正向影響；三、大學學術聲望對學者國際學術移動有正向影響；四、大學學術聲望對學者的外向性與國際學術移動具有調節效果。

Research on factors influencing faculty international academic mobility have become a global focus. However, most related studies have analyzed these factors from a single perspective, which fails to capture the impact of different factors at multiple levels. To address this gap, this study used a hierarchical linear modeling to examine the influence of both the institutional level (university level) and the individual level (scholar level) factors on scholars’ international academic mobility. For this purpose, this study administered a survey to 353 scholars from 32 universities and employed a multilevel linear model for data analysis. The following four conclusions were drawn. Firstly, university-level variables explained 29.9% of the variance in faculty international academic mobility, and thus, academic reputation among universities should not be overlooked. Secondly, scholars’ individual factors, namely, academic productivity, job involvement, and extraversion positively affected their international academic mobility. Thirdly, the academic reputation of faculty members at the university level positively affected their international academic mobility. Lastly, the academic reputation of universities moderated the relationship between their faculty members’ extraversion and international academic mobility.
