World Bank Policies and Its Impact on Higher Education in Africa

Foreign aid dependence is a marked feature in the evolution of higher education in Africa. World Bank’s higher education policies have influenced African higher education. The deterioration of higher education in Africa is related to World Bank’s changing policies. The ways World Bank’s policies influence over African higher education include direct conditions on loans， provision of development proposals， influence on other funding and technical assistance agencies， participation in the education policy making， conventing international conferences， recruitment of African professionals and so on.
