袁敦禮是我國優秀的體育家和教育家，她的體育教育思想反映在對體育本質及功能的教育學視角，以及體育對人的身心全面發展的作用，體育與教育的關係的獨特的思想認識上，她的體育思想的許多部分對於指導我們今天體育教育的發展，弄清體育理論中的一些模糊概念，仍有重要的參考價值。

Yuan Dun-li is an outstanding gymnast and educationlist in China. His ideas about sports education are represented in the following aspects: the sports essence and functions in the visual angle of pedagogy， the effect of sports to the all-round development of human’s body and mind， and his unique ideas about the relationship between sports and education.
