An Analysis of the Implementation and Effectiveness of Student Advisers’ Engagement in College Student Guidance Work
Since August 2014, National Taiwan Normal University has implemented the “Student Adviser System.” Master students in the fields of education, counseling, student affairs, and social work, etc. were employed as staff. They were responsible for students’ developmental guidance. The system has been implemented for four years, but there has never been any relevant research on how it has been implemented. Thus, in December 2018, this study selected eight student advisers from different fields and different colleges for in-depth interviews in order to get an in-depth understanding of student advisors’ actual participation in school counseling work, teacher-student interaction, and organizational operations. Based on this understanding, the characteristics of the system and the areas to be improved are analyzed as a basis for future adjustment of the system.
