The Problem and Key Points Analysis of Design-based Research in Educational Research in China
With the development of times and technology， educational research is transforming into empirical research. In the field of education y design-based research ( DBR) has been attracting a lot of attention at home and abroad for a long time， it is an essential educational empirical research method. In order to promote the deep implication of DBR in educational research， we invited Professor Terry Anderson， who is a world-famous researcher in distance education， to teach a 32 hours master degree student^ s face to face course. Through this international collaboration teaching program and literature research， this study found that compared with the extensive and in-depth application of this method in educational research abroad， the development of DBR in China still stays in the stage of theoretical discussion， and there are some misconceptions about DBR which leads to it’s difficult to find typical practical cases those applied DBR in educational research normatively. The study analyzes and summarizes the existing problem about the implementation of DBR based on the analysis of the status quo of domestic DBR related research. Including ： 1) It is not placed in the entire research method system to grasp its research paradigm accurately; 2) Insufficient understanding of the nature of the method， confusing it with action research and experimental researches; 3 ) Focusing on the form of the research process only and ignore the key points of the implementation process. Based on these problems and the interventionist and open nature of DBR， this study distinguished the DBR with two other methods which are easy confusing researchers first. They are experimental research and action research. Because both DBR and experimental research are interventionist research method and both DBR and action research are belonging to the interventionist and open research method. Then， the study proposed five key points our researchers should focus on when conducting DBR in deeply in the research as follows ： 1) identifying the research question in natural and complex educational context; 2 ) locating the theoretical basis which scaffolds the research; 3 ) focusing on research process and designing high quality interventions flexibility; 4 ) adopting multiple levels of data collection and analysis， improves reliability with mixed research method; 5 ) obtaining effective design principles to improve the value of research. It is hoped that this study will help our researchers get a systematic understanding on design-based research and implement it in their study，so as to promote the improvement of the practice and quality of education in China.
