Exploring the Instruction of Socio-Scientific Issues in Secondary Schools
Given the development of the world and the practical needs of the curriculum reform and teaching practice，teachingsocio-scientiiic issues (SSI) inmiddleschools isoneof theeffectiveways tode- velop students' ability， improve their core accomplishment and promote their civic awareness. Through the teaching practices and improvements in different schools for many times，the authors summed up the three-stage model for SSI teaching： the establishment of SSI，the discussion of SSI and the practice of SSI. Among them，the discussion of SSI is the important stage of carrying out the knowledge and promoting the key ability，which is divided into four aspects： the scientific awareness of SSI，seeking the advantage and disadvantage about SSI，scientific argumentation whether the pros and cons are tenable，and weighing the pros and cons to make decision. Throughout the entire process，the core problem in the implementation of such teaching was established，and targeted teaching strategies were drawn on the basis of teaching effec- tiveness and interviews with teachers and students. It will provide important reference for the future devel- opment of SSI instruction in middle schools.
