An Investigation of the Implementation of Professional Standards for Elementary and Middle School Teachers in China
The development of teachers' professional standards is an important way to improve the professional level of teachers and strengthen the construction of teaching staff in china . This study investigated the implementation status quo of the professional standards for elementary and middle school teachers and found that， since the publication of the standards， the education administrative departments and primary and secondary schools and kindergartens have considered the implementation of these standards as important tasks and ways to improve teaching staff construction， and took various actions to strengthen the teachers' understanding of the standards， which has achieved good results. On the other hand， the study found that the general standards cannot meet the need of teachers of diflident subjects at different professional stages，and there was some difliculties in implementing the standards. The authors proposed two strategies to solve the problems ： to further develop different standards for teachers of different subjects and these at different professional development stage based on the general standards，and to explore the appropriate approaches to applying the standards texts to practice， linking the standard texts with teacher?s teaching behaviors to enable a better implementation of the standards .
