Economic Returns to Teaching Performance
The paper investigated how students’ academic performance were associated with their teachers salaries by employing a 4teacher-subject-student' three dimensional match design using data from more than 20 counties and districts in Hubei and Guangdong. Regression analyses show that the students academic achievement were significantly positively related to their subject teachers' income； the schools recognized effective teachers instead of using an egalitarian allocation mode. However， the student-a- chievement-based awarding mode might lead to the teachers' neglect of student difference and education equality. In the context of great promotion of student-achievement-based income mode， this paper discussed the possibility of designing a more inclusive incentivemechanismto realize ‘qual and quality education.
