The College Social Entrepreneurship Education in the United States： The Development Trajectory and Implications

Social entrepreneurship is an integral part of entrepreneurial activities，highlighting the creation of social value instead of commercial value. As a critical vehicle to address social challenges， social entrepreneurship will gain momentum in China，which is undergoing comprehensive social as well as economic transitions. Accordingly， the demand for social entrepreneurship education is also increasing. Social entrepreneurship education started early in the United States and played an important role in raising public awareness of social entrepreneurship， improving the skills of social entrepreneurs as well as nurturing the next generation of social entrepreneurs. This paper reviews the trajectory， lessons and trends of the development of college social entrepreneurship education in the United States since the 1980s， in the hope that college social entrepreneurship education in China could benefit fromthem.
