An Analysis of the Policies on Creating the World-class Universities in India

In response to the change of national and international economy development and the demand of higher education development，University Grants Commission of India has formulated and implemented the schemes of Universities with Potential for Excellence and Innovation Universities to create world- class universities. The schemes have made different requirements in terms of the objectives，application requirements，evaluation procedures and financial assistance. Although some existing universities have improved teaching and research to some extend with the support of these schemes，there are still some problems unsolved.
