英文摘要 | MOOCs provides an exciting opportunity in many ways, such as promoting learning change, expanding the scale of education and so on,but there are still many problems in suspense in terms of its effectiveness. For example, an important issue that has been repeatedly mentioned in the academic literature and in the mass media is the low completion rate of MOOCs. In this study, we took the Web of Science database as a data source. In accordance with the rules in advance, a total of 22 articles about MOOCs completion (retention or dropout) were retrieved as the empirical data of qualitative study. Using NVivo as an analytical tool, 22 articles were coded by three level coding. Therefore, we have obtained 3 categories and 14 factors affecting MOOCs completion. After further analysis and discussion, we found: (1)Learners’ ability and quality as well as characteristics of the platforms and courses are the core factors that affect MOOCs completion;(2)Low completion rate may be a unique quality of MOOC, it is not enough to consider completion as the sole indicator of success in MOOCs;(3)At present, the research on MOOCs completion is still in the exploratory stage, and the direction of follow-up work seems to enter the confirmation stage of large sample. |
