英文摘要 | Open course is a vital part of open educational resources (OER) movement, which has profoundly benefited the distribution of knowledge, promotion of educational globalization, and achievement of educational equality. However, currently there is a lack of objective and comprehensive understanding of the learners and learning behaviors in open courses based on empirical data. To address this problem, this study employed Google Analytics to collect and analyze six years of web analytics from an open course offered by the Pennsylvania State University. By reporting and visualizing relevant statistics regarding the learners, learning behavior and technology use, this study has revealed the general pattern and the trending changes of learner groups and learning behaviors in the open course. In addition, this study also explored the benefits and limitations of using Google Analytics as a tool to collect and analyze online learning data. The findings are expected to extend our understanding of open learning, and inform the evaluation and improvement of online course websites and educational resources. |
