Accelerating the Establishment of New Engineering and Technical Disciplines and Promoting the Innovation in Engineering Education: A Review of the Symposium on the Strategy of Developing Higher Engineering Education

In order to meet the needs of national strategy and the development of new industries， it is urgently important to establish new engineering and technical disciplines with a multi-disciplinary integrative approach and to cultivate inter-disciplinary talents with global vision， innovative spirit and practical ability. At the Symposium on the Strategy of Developing Higher Engineering Education held by Fudan University on February 18th， 2017， representatives from the Ministry of Education， domestic and foreign universities and business sectors heatedly discussed the necessity and urgency of the establishment of new engineering and technical disciplines， their connotations as well as development paths， and the Fudan Consensus has been reached.
