A Probe into the Consumption Risk of Overseas Education under the Background of Studying Abroad

In recent years， studying abroad has become a trend. Education belongs to the category of cultural consumption. There are certain risks of cross-border education consumption， including four types in total， namely academic risk， income risk， health risk and political risk. There are many factors that affect the risk of overseas education consumption， such as information asymmetry， cultural differences， the differences of domestic and foreign education mode， consumer's individual differences， international students' professional cluster phenomenon and inherent characteristics of education consumption. All of them play an important role in affecting the risks of overseas education. Unlike investment risk， which is mainly borne by the investors themselves， consumption risk should be shared by multiple agents， especially by the providers of service or products. Therefore， when it comes to the share of overseas education consumption risk， the service providers need to bear the corresponding legal responsibility; consumers have to learn to avoid and transfer risks; education institutions should pay more attention to students' safety awareness and life skills education. With the increase of the number of international students and the trend of educational globalization， cross-border legal documents aimed at protecting international students' education consumption rights should be formulated from service and consumer's perspective.
