英文摘要 | William Harris is the most famous public school educator and Hegel philosopher during the second half of the 19th Century in the United States. In this paper,we followed the life path and vocational education activities of Harris,using historical analysis to analyze the process of the formation and development of Harris' Hegelian educational thoughts. His educational theory and practice positively responded to the challenges of the industrial revolution,the urbanization, Civl War, and the conflict between science and religion in the United States during that time,which had put forward effective mental tools and approaches to practices to solve practical problems. The formation of Harris' educational theory and activities were the reflection of the exploration on dramatic social change by theorists and educators in the second half of the 19th century in the United States. |
