A Critical Review of Controversies over the New Round Reform of SAT

SAT考试与美国大学招生和高校教育质量息息相关。2014年3月，美国大学理事 会宣布SAT将迎来新一轮改革。此次改革源于其竞争对手ACT的赶超以及SAT对其考试机 制和题型设置不合理的自我反思。SAT的新一轮改革引起了社会各界对SAT及标准化考试的 广泛争议：批评者认为，SAT主办方的运营机制以及其以选择题为导向的题型设置与实际脱 节，且考试不公平问题日益严重；拥护者认为，以SAT为代表的一类标准化考试是现今最高效 的评价方式。展望SAT及标准化考试未来，考试内容将不断改进、网络化考试将成为现实、以 “合作”为核心的综合素质将成为考试的价值追求。

SAT is highly related to student enrollment and the quality of education of colleges and universities in the USA. On March 5，2014， the College Board declared a new round reform on SAT， which was actually aroused by the recent catching-up of its major competitor ACT and self—reflection on its irrational exam mechanism and questions set. The reform provokes heated discussion. On one hand， the critics argue that the operation mechanism of College Board has problems and the multiple-choice-oriented question-set detaches from practice. Furthermore， the exam is increasingly biased. On the other hand， the supporters insist dejectedly but admittedly that several standardized tests represented by SAT are the most effective assessment approaches so far. Looking ahead into the future of SAT and standardized tests，we predict that the content of the test will be gradually improved ，Internet based test will be realized and the test's value pursuit will be in accordance with comprehensive quality with cooperation at the core.
