英文摘要 | Many researchers believe that almost all modern universities follow institutional patterns derived from Western models. Therefore, they think that all Asian universities are no doubts based on European academic models and traditions. However, the 3.0 model of China' universities may be an exception. Although universities in China have been strongly influenced by various Western models over the twentieth century, they still demonstrate some key characteristics of Chinese academic traditions. From the perspective of history and culture,this study tends to construct the concept of the University of China 3.0 and investigates its core values, features and possible contributions to the era of globalization. First,this article categorizes history of China’s higher education into three distinct stages, and gives a careful examination to development and characteristics of each stage. Then, it focuses on an in-depth discussion on four core values and features of China' University3. 0,namely institutional autonomy, intellectual freedom, the unity of knowledge and human mission (Zhi-Xing) mission,and harmony in institutional diversity (He’ er Butong) . Due to these core values and features, China’ s universities show a strong international leading power. This article furthermore demonstrates how universities of China culturally differ from the dominant Anglo-Saxon and American models but share some commonalities with universities of the continental European and Japanese models. This article is concluded by some policy implications, practical implications and conceptual implications about what this concept means for future international communication to realize acculturalization. |
