“非升即走”是美国高校终身教职制度的一个重要组成部分，发挥着对学术人员的甄别与筛选、监督与激励的功能。尽管我国高校已经实施合同聘用，但基本/瓦于形式，无法真正起到人才筛选的作用。虽然“非升即走”引入我国高校还存在一些制约因素，但基本条件已经具备，在部分高杈新进教师中采用“非升即走”规则已经成为一个现实的选择。
