The Decline and Renaissance of Moral Education in American Universities： With Investigations into Derek Bok's Moral Education Ideas and Practices

美国大学的道德教育经历了19世纪中前期的鼎盛期、19世纪后期至20世纪60年代的衰落期以及20世纪60年代末至今的复兴期。哈佛大学前校长德里克·博克是重振美国大学道德教育的旗手和发起者之一。博克的道德教育思想与实践体系由“对本科生和专业学院学生的道德教育”、“校长和教授的道德表率作用的重要性”以及“大学自身的道德榜样作用的重要性”等三个层面的道德教育所构成。

Moral education in American universities has undergone a flourishing period in the early -mid nineteenth century， then a period of decline from the end of the nineteenth century till the 1960s， and finally a period of renaissance from the end of the 1960s till now. Derek Bok， former president of Harvard University， is one of the major sponsors of the renaissance of moral education in American universities. Bok's moral education ideas and practices are composed of such three levels of moral education as ＂the moral education of undergraduates and professional school students＂， ＂the importance of the moral examples of university presidents and professors＂ and ＂ the importance of the moral examples of universities themselves＂.
