英文摘要 | Using hierarchical linear model (HLM) to analyze 2011 MYCOS's Chinese College Graduates' Employment Survey, this study explores two completely different paths by which institutional factors affect initial salary of graduates. One is institution's direct influence on average starting salary in different institutions, and the other is institution's indirect effect through adjusting the marginal effect of individual attributes (gender, major, employment, etc.). Results show that about 12% of the total difference of individual starting salary can be attributed to institutional factors (college type, selectivity, etc.), and that college types exert varying effects on marginal impacts of individual attributes. The conclusions specify mechanisms through which institutions influence graduate's starting salary. |
