中文摘要 | 21世纪文化全球化进程大大加快,英语作为“国际语”的应用迅速蔓延。随着各种世界英语变体的出现,英语“母语”不再是英语的唯一标准,英语作为二语教育出现了范式的转变。二语教育主要教学目标(即培养学习者跨文化交际能力)的内涵也随之面临着范式的转变。原有的本质主义的跨文化理论开始受到质疑与挑战,仅仅掌握英美文化知识也已经无法满足学生跨文化交流的需要。本文通过回顾文化全球化的发展特点、各国对全球化公民素质教育的重视以及现今世界英语的发展趋势,探讨了中国英语教育中跨文化交际教学的现状,并提出了跨文化交际教学的范式转变。 |
英文摘要 | With the speeding-up of cultural globalization and spreading of English as a lingua franca, "native-ness" is no longer assumed as the only criterion for evaluating people's competence of English communication. This brings English as a second language (ESL) education undertaking a paradigm shift. Accordingly, developing students' intercultural communicative competence, a major teaching objective of ESL, also needs a paradigm shift. The previously popular essentialist perspective of intercultural communication gains increasing criticism and doubts. Moreover, in the broader context, the education authorities in many countries begin to realize the significance of developing students' intercultural citizenship in all levels of education. This paper, by reviewing the features of the culturally globalized world, the trend of developing students' global citizenship, and the history of English as World Englishes, in tandem with discussing the development of intercultural communication education in ESL, elaborates the status quo of the intercultural communication education in the English education in China, and proposes a paradigm shift for the intercultural communicative competence education. |
