英文摘要 | This study examined the president recruitment model in 25 top universities in Asia. Results show that the majority of top Asian universities elect the presidents through internal promotion, but the recruitment model in different countries and regions vary from one another; within one country or region, the tendency of model choice may also vary from one another due to differences in the cultural and historic background. Chronologically speaking, newly-established universities are more likely than traditional universities to choose the external recruitment model; geographically speaking, universities in more internationalized place such as Hong Kong have higher proportion of choosing external (especially international) recruitment model, while universities in Japan are more likely to promote president s internally, especially from those candidates who have complete record of studying and working in that university. |
