Development and problems in China’s Engl ish teaching in col leges and universities based on the analysis of English National Featured Courses

“高校精品课程建设工程”的目的在于实现优质教育资源的免费共享，全面促进我国高等学校课程建设水平和教学质量的提高。英语类国家精品课程建设的研究表明，网络环境下我国高校英语教学在专业分布、指导思想、教学模式、教学平台等方面存在一些矛盾和问题。树立“大外语观”以及英语教学“全局观”，打通英语专业和大学英语教学各自为阵的壁垒，共建大学外语教学环境，实现英语教学信息资源共享，已成为我国高校英语教学发展的当务之急。

The Featured Course Project in Higher Education aims to improve the overall course construction level and teaching quality in all colleges and universities in China by sharing free fine teaching resources. The article studies English National Featured Courses and finds that problems arise in China's English teaching in colleges and universities concerning course distribution， teaching guidelines， teaching modes and teaching platforms. It has become the top priority of the development of China's English teaching to break through the barriers between college English and major English， build and share all the information between them form the holistic perspective.
