The Analysis and Reflection on the Critical Period of Children's Second Language Acquisition from the Perspective of Brain Science
In the process of interpreting the results of brain science research related to the critical peti- od of second language acquisition，there are often such problems as understanding the critical period with biases or rigidly and ignoring the importance of foreign language learning before and after the criticalper— od. In order to guide the educators to wisely instruct children's English Earning by using the relevant results as well as avoiding falling into the ^neural mythology”，this paper offers reasonable analysis on three typical misunderstandings of the critical period through relevant brain science research. It stresses the multiple levels of children's second language acquisition，the potential value of the silent period，and the pos- sibility of foreign language learning after the critical period. Due to the differences in different language systems and the weakness of current systematic studies on the critica l period of second language acquisition in China，caution must be taken when drawing on foreign studies.
