Limitations of and Challenges to American Academic Freedom from the Perspective of Censorship

本文采用文献分析的方法，回顾了美国大学审查制度的形成与发展，包括宗教和道德审查、政治和经济审查、全面审查等不同阶段；分析了这一制度形态的利弊及其对学术自由和言论自由的影响，揭示了这一制度存在的意义和争议；提出了明确各自边界，避免滥用审查，规避绝对的学术自由等建议。最后探讨了当前学术自由面临的新的问题和挑战。

This paper reviews the formation and development of institutional censorship in the Unit一 ed States through literature analysis， covering religious and moral censorship， political and economic censorship，and overall censorship. It analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of censorship and its impacts on academic freedom and freedom of speech，reveals its meaning and disputes about it，and sug一 gests a balance between censorship abuse and absolute academic freedom. Last， the paper discusses some recent issues and challenges faced by academic freedom.
