中國傳統社會相當重視傳宗接代家族繁衍的意義，當人們無法延續子嗣時，就會產生「不孝有三，無後為大」的壓力。但是，因為現代人晚婚、環境污染及壓力等因素，使得受孕率亦隨之降低。生殖科技的進步，雖然給不孕婦女帶來了一線希望，但接受相關治療時，每個階段皆有複雜的醫療過程介入，讓不孕婦女的身心遭受到極大的困擾與痛苦。不孕者認為沒有小孩是他們最大的失敗，沒有小孩的婚姻及生活不再有意義，於是想盡辦法就是為了得到一個孩子。然而，有不孕史的孕婦在剛獲知自己懷孕的訊息時，卻常處於一種不真實的感覺狀態，而且新的壓力隨即取代了喜悅的感覺，孕期時身心的不適及現實生活的壓力等問題油然而生。不孕婦女在成就當母親的願望歷程中，不斷重新詮釋、建構生兒育女的意義。

Chinese traditional society pays much attention to the meaning of familymultiples and expanding family line， when people are unable to extend their family sons can produce pressure from being unfilial. Factors such as marrying at a late age，environmental pollution and other pressures make the rate of pregnancy reduced. The progress of reproduction technology brought a gleam of hope to infertile woman， but while receiving relevant treatments， each stage involved a complicated medical course，which let them suffer great pain and trouble both physically and mentally. The infertile one thinks it is their great failure for not having any child， and marriage and life become less meaningful without children， therefore they try hard to get a child.However， the pregnant woman with infertile history is often situated in an unrealisticstatus during the early days of pregnancy， and then new pressure replaces the happy sensation. Other questions rise such as feeling fantod in pregnancy period， pressure of real life， etc. Infertile women keep reannotating and reconstructing the meaning of having children during the hope of being mothers.
