教師對偏鄉雙語教育的看法與建議

Teacher’s Perspectives and Suggestions on Bilingual Education in Rural Schools

本文探究偏鄉教師對偏鄉雙語教育贊成或反對的立場和理由，以及願意參與雙語教學的條件和對偏鄉雙語教育的建言。研究透過開放性問卷調查36位偏鄉教師。研究發現贊成偏鄉英語教育的偏鄉教師略多於不贊成者，贊成的主要理由為英語具有實用性，反對的主要理由是師生英語能力有限。研究者提出三項建議：偏鄉雙語教育應可嘗試，但需逐步消解疑慮；改變偏鄉教師心態可提高雙語教育認同；緩解偏鄉學子接受雙語學習的負擔或擴大城鄉差距的兩難。

This study explores rural schoolteachers’ for or against and the reasons regarding rural bilingual education, teachers’ expected working conditions for bilingual instruction, and their suggestions for rural bilingual education. By open questionnaire, thirty-six rural schoolteachers were investigated. The study finds that the rural school teachers who agree bilingual education are a little more than who do not, the main reason for approving is the practicality of English, and the main reason for disapproving is limited English ability of teacher and student. The researcher provides three suggestions: Bilingual education in rural schools should be tried but need to clear up doubts gradually; changing the attitude of teachers in rural schools can improve the identity of bilingual education; and alleviate the dilemma of rural students accepting bilingual learning burden or widening the gap between urban and rural education.
