英文摘要 | This study explores rural schoolteachers’ for or against and the reasons regarding rural bilingual education, teachers’ expected working conditions for bilingual instruction, and their suggestions for rural bilingual education. By open questionnaire, thirty-six rural schoolteachers were investigated. The study finds that the rural school teachers who agree bilingual education are a little more than who do not, the main reason for approving is the practicality of English, and the main reason for disapproving is limited English ability of teacher and student. The researcher provides three suggestions: Bilingual education in rural schools should be tried but need to clear up doubts gradually; changing the attitude of teachers in rural schools can improve the identity of bilingual education; and alleviate the dilemma of rural students accepting bilingual learning burden or widening the gap between urban and rural education. |
