中文摘要 | 词汇教学一直是国内英语教学和研究者关注的重要问题之一。词汇教学中“教什么”以及“如何教”困扰着众多英语教师。北京外国语大学中国外语教育研究中心与外语教学与研究出版社于2011 年6 月举办了“外语词汇教学与研究专题研修班”,其间Paul Nation 教授讲授了词汇教学、词汇分类和词汇测试等理论。本文对该研修班的主要内容进行了综述。首先“四线理论”针对词汇教学策略,探讨了词汇“如何教”的问题;高低频词汇的分类以及词汇覆盖率的理论研究了词汇“教什么”的问题;词汇测试的理论则为教师及时了解学生的词汇量提供了简单可行的办法。此外,笔者还介绍了在教学实践中相关词汇教学方法的应用。 |
英文摘要 | Vocabulary teaching is an important research topic for teachers of English and scholars in China. The problems of "how to teach" and "what to teach" have long troubled quite many teachers. In the Workshop on Foreign Language Vocabulary Teaching and Research jointly held by the National Research Center for Foreign Language Education of Beijing Foreign Studies University and Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press in June, 2011, Professor Paul Nation explained his theories of vocabulary teaching, vocabulary classification and vocabulary testing. This article is a summary of Professor Nation's vocabulary theories discussed in the workshop. First, his "four strand" theory explores the problem of "how to teach" vocabulary; his classification of vocabularies into high- and low-frequency vocabulary and the theory of vocabulary coverage is conducive to solving the problem of "what to teach"; meanwhile, his vocabulary testing theory offers us a handy and credible way to estimate students' vocabulary size. At last, a brief reflection on the author's vocabulary teaching practice is mentioned. |
