Discussions about educational finance adequacy in America stemmed from litigations on fiscal adequacy in the end of 1980s， which attracted widely attention from the courts， policymakers and scholars. Thus， educational finance shifted from equity to adequacy. The author reviewed educational finance adequacy in America in terms of reason， definition and estimation methodologies.
