英文摘要 | As there exist some problems concerning Chinese-English (C-E) back-translation exercises in some English textbooks, and in combination with the author's teaching experience, this paper discusses how to devise C-E back-translation exercises: The original version and the Chinese version should possess a high degree of back-translatability; and hints, including vocabulary, sentence structures and textual features, should be provided after the Chinese version. This paper is to demonstrate that the devising of back translation, as an exercise of imitation, requires discretion from the teachers or text compilers in the choice of the original text and its translation and that offering some hints after the Chinese version is necessary, otherwise it will be of no avail. |
