关于汉英回译习题的设计

On the devising of Chinese-English back-translation exercises

本文针对某些英语教材中的汉英回译习题存在的问题，结合笔者自己的教学经验，探讨汉英回译习题的设计问题：所选的英语原文和所给的汉语译文都要具有可回译性，译文后需附加提示，提示应当包括语汇、句型和语篇特征。本文旨在说明回译是一种模仿性练习，教师或教材编写者对原文选择及其翻译一定要慎重，回译性提示不可或缺，否则将达不到模仿的目的。

As there exist some problems concerning Chinese-English (C-E) back-translation exercises in some English textbooks， and in combination with the author's teaching experience， this paper discusses how to devise C-E back-translation exercises: The original version and the Chinese version should possess a high degree of back-translatability; and hints， including vocabulary， sentence structures and textual features， should be provided after the Chinese version. This paper is to demonstrate that the devising of back translation， as an exercise of imitation， requires discretion from the teachers or text compilers in the choice of the original text and its translation and that offering some hints after the Chinese version is necessary， otherwise it will be of no avail.
