An Analysis and Suggestions of the System Environment to Exercise Leadership of American University Presidents

美国高等教育史上有一批杰出的大学校长、他们的教育理念及治校实践大大推动了大学的发展，对美国高等教育甚至世界高等教育都产生了很大的影响。本文从美国大学内外部的制度环境两个方面分析了大学校长在治校中成功地发挥作用的原因，以期对我国世界一流大学建设过程中校长作用的发挥有所启示。

There were a lot of excellent university presidents in the history of American higher education. They promoted the development of their universities with their educational ideas and practices so greatly that American higher education even world higher education was affected profoundly. This paper analyzes the causes of presidents functioning fully in running universities from both internal and external system environments. It is expected that this paper can help to exercise the leadership the presidents in building the world─class universities in China.
