Charles M. Reigeluth is one of the outstanding leaders in the filed of Instructional Design. This paper reviews his academic career and contributions， discusses his idea by carrying forward and developing from the precursors in Instructional Design， and analyses his defeats in his idea. It is also mentioned that the history of Reigeluth is a special enlightenment to Educational Technology in China， while it is at the first stage and on the turning point in developing.
