Beijing Higher Normal School and the Visit of John Dewey and Paul Monroe in China

北京高等师范学校（北高师）与杜威、孟禄的中国之行结缘甚深。北高师积极参与两位西方教育家的来华活动，成为杜威、孟禄在华活动的重要基地。同时，师生们积极译介其思想，践行其理念，有力地推动了教育民主化和教育科学化的进程，北高师成为中国新教育运动的一支生力军，近代中外教育交流的学术重镇。

Beijing Higher Normal School played an important role in John Dewey's and Paul Monroe's visit in China. It actively participated in the activities of the two western educators in China， and became the main base for Dewey's and Monroe's activities in China. At the same time， by actively translating their thoughts and practicing their concepts， teachers and students effectively promoted the process of education democratization and scientification. Beijing Higher Normal School became a fresh power of the New Education Movement in China， and an important academic place for educational exchanges between China and abroad.
