文学官是汉代地方官学的教师，其设置随着经学的发展而不断细化，数量众多，区域分布广泛。一般明经明可出任，主要职责有管理学校、教授弟子、推行教化、备长官顾问等。文学官在任命与升迁的途径等方面均体现出其官吏属性。

The literature officer equaled to the local official school’s teacher in Han Dynasty. With the development of the study of classics， their arrangement was increasingly specified; the numbers as large and they are widely deployed. Generally speaking， if they were familiar with the classics， they could take the post. Their responsibilities include the management of school， the instruction to the students， carrying out education etc. Their bureaucratic nature was reflected in many aspects， especially in their appointment and promotion.
