The Construction of Teaching Paradigm for Students-based Learning of Higher Education Deep Plowing Program
In view of the fact that undergraduate education in our country is confronted with the lowering of average quality of undergraduates, the dilution of higher education funding, the high ratio of students-faculty in colleges and universities and the dilemma of “emphasis on research and contempt on teaching” in universities. Multi-subsidies projects of the Ministry of Education that integrated into a competitive program of deep plowing of higher education. The purpose of this study is to analyze the connotation of students in terms of ensuring their learning outcomes in view of the goal of “improving the quality of universities in an all-round way and promoting the multi-dimensional development of higher education”.
Higher education deep plowing program to enhance the quality of university is divided into four aspects: implementation of teaching innovation, promotion of higher education publicity, development of school characteristics, and good social responsibility, its purpose is to ensure student learning effectiveness, expectations through the university to improve school governance, curriculum and teaching innovation, combined with the development of local and industrial needs, to provide students with a combination of theory and practice field, on the one hand to cultivate students’ ability to learn to use unity; on the other hand good University social responsibility. According to the structure of higher education deep plowing program, the connotation of improving the quality of the university includes: (1) a core concept of ensuring the students’ active-learning effectiveness; and (2) a learning spindle: innovation and practice, (Iii) two quality loops: internal governance and teaching innovation, external social responsibility, and (d) three development principles: quality improvement, distinctive features, innovative highlights, and (e) four career skills: basic skills, employability, cross-boundary ability, innovative ability.
If the higher education deep plowing program can fully introduce evidence-based mechanism by institutional research and play the function of continuous quality improvement, it will lead to five specific benefits in the future development of higher education of Taiwan.
