Moderating Effects of Culture Traits on Personality Traits Differentially Predict the Imagination Capabilities of Film/ Video Communication Majors

本研究探討人格特質對想像力的預測效果，以及校系文化特質對特定人格的調節作用。本研究運用具備信度與效度，並經跨領域測試穩定的研究工具，針對影視傳播系所學生，共計943個有效樣本數進行分析。研究結果顯示，高低再造性與創造性想像力表現的群組，在人格特質的不同向度間存在顯著差異。其次，開放特質會對再造性與創造性想像力同時具有預測力；情緒穩定特質對再造性與創造性想像力皆不具預測力；外向、審慎、親和特質則分別對再造性與創造性想像力有互異的預測力。此外，文化特質亦對再造性與創造性想像力皆具預測力，且對具「親和特質」的個體在發揮「再造性想像力」時具有調節作用。本研究結果初步呼應「個人－組織適配」（P-O fi t）理論論點，除為培育高想像力人才的適性方案奠定實證研究基礎之外，亦推動同具穩定特性的文化因素與人格因素之間可能存在的交互作用之探討，並提出未來研究與應用的發展方向。

This study analyzed a variety of personality traits to predict the imagination and assess the moderator effect of culture traits on film/video communication majors’ imagination capabilities. Data were collected from 943 university students majoring in film/video using validated and reliable instruments. The results indicate that (1) significant differences were found in both the high/low reproductive imagination and high/low creative imagination groups, and that these differences were based on personality traits, including openness to experience, extraversion, conscientiousness, and agreeableness; (2) openness to experience was a significant predictor of reproductive and creative imagination, but emotional stability was not, for both types of imagination; (3) extraversion, conscientiousness, and agreeableness had different effects on imaginative performance; and (4) cultural traits predicted both reproductive and creative imagination effectively and played a moderator role in reproductive imagination for an agreeable individual. These results echo the “P-O fi t” theory and can be benefi cial for talent development in the fi eld of fi lm/video communication.
