本文主要的研究目的在於探討與比較東亞地區中小學課程的特色，透過對中國大陸、香港、日本、韓國與新加坡這五個國家或地區中小學課程特色的探討，為此波十二年國民基本教育課程改革提供一些具體可行的發展方向。這五個國家或地區中小學課程的特色可歸納為三點：一、關注學生全人的開展；二、給予學生適性發展的機會；三、強調課程結構的整體性與完整性。這三點與目前臺灣十二年國民基本教育課程綱要總綱所強調的以全人教育為理念、成就每一個孩子、適性揚才、中小學課程的連貫與統整的改革方向一致。

This study aims to discuss and compare the characteristics for grade 1-12 school curriculum in East Asia. Through the discussion about the school curriculum in Mainland China, Hong Kong ,Japan, Korea and Singapore, we can provide some suggestions for the curriculum reform for the G1-12 basic education in Taiwan.
The characteristics of G1-12 school curriculum reform in these five regions, are as the follows: 1. Paying close attention to the whole person development for students; 2. Giving the opportunity of adaptive development for students; 3. Emphasizing the wholeness and completeness of curriculum structure. These core ideas, the whole person education, success for all, developing every student’s talent, and curriculum coherence and integration are similar with Taiwan’s G1-12 curriculum guideline.
