The Early Effort of the National Education 犃^sociation： Committed to the Establishment and Development of Federal Institution of Education in the United States (1857-1903)

One of themain tasks of the initial National Education Association (NEA) was bending it- self to the establishment and development of federal institution of education in the United States. For the sake of collecting and disseminating national educational information， and promote regional public educa-ttonal development，NEA had been proposing to establish a federal institution of education since ts foun- ding. Through conventional addresses，resolutions，drawing up a bill，and appointing selected comm i ttees to lobby congressmen，NEA became the significant impetus. It contributed to the establishment of federal institution of education in 1867 and played an important role in maintaining the existence and the authority of the institution，which paved the solid historical foundation for the establishment of the Federal Bureau of Education in 1979 and thus started a vital chapter of it's early history.
