The New Age of Gaokao: Educational and Social Analysis of the Institutional Reconstruction

The Reform of Gaokao is entering a new age as China is entering a new age. The rational system of the reform is quite well established and in fact has indicated some improvements. However， the mechanism still leaves room for improvement in practice. Judging Gaokao， we need to weigh the principle of scientificity over the principle of social justice - testing is the original function of Gaokao asking for scientificity while social selection is a derived function of Gaokao asking for justice. In fact， the fairness of Gaokao is deep within the subjects， contents and the organization of Gaokao arrangements. We need to create more channels of upward social mobility， and at the same time improve Gaokao to make sure it plays its political， cultural and valueidentifying functions.
