Teacher-Student Relationship from the Perspective of Social Stratum

Teacher-student relationship is the most basic relationship in the setting of schools and the key variable impacting students’ development. Previous studies mainly focused on teaching ethnics but ig- noring the fact that students came from various families and bore the imprint of the social stratum of the family. This research， based the questionnaire data of 1 527 primary school students and 70 teachers from 27 schools located in 3 cities and counties， and the data of observation and interview， used factor analysis and cluster analysis， and analyzed how the social status was related to the teacher-student relationship and the class difference related variables. The results showed that students from different social class were dif- ferent in their perceptions of social equality， the words from both teachers and students， the opportunity to participate into activities， and the cognitive style of interpersonal interaction. The interview ofteachers led to similar results. Therefore， the social class difference in the teacher-student relationship is related to the educational equality. In order to improve the teacher-student relationship， teachers must develop the ability to deal with the diversity background of students.
