This study aims to understand the learning experience of disadvantaged children in rural western China . The authors conducted empirical studies,surveying 8047 students in 74 rural schools in 11 provinces,municipalities,and autonomous regions. The results show that the learning experience of disadvantaged children in rural western China was significantly lower than those who were not disadvantaged, especially in terms of equality and inclusion,learning effort,classroom interaction and extracurricular interaction; and low-level home-school cooperation and safe atmosphere were also found in those rural schools. Children from minority groups and low family economic status and children who were boarding in school had significantly worse learning experience. Unexpectedly, boys had become a weak group in terms of gender in school education. Therefore,effective ^gal and administrative strategies should be implemented to promote home-school cooperation, educational localization, cultural capital accumulation of disadvantaged families,and the strategies to improve rural boarding school management to improve students' learning experience in these schools.
