Metaliteracy: New Trend of Information Literacy Education in Social Media Age

The rapid development of emerge technologies changes the higher education environment and proposes new requirements for information literacy education in higher education. Metaliteracy was proposed by researchers to face this challenge in new digital environment of social media age. It takes metacognition as theory foundation， emphasizes on learners ' participant learning， critical thinking and collaboration in open， interactive learning environments ， thus developing the life-long learning abilities of learners. Metaliteracy is a holistic， synthesis， and self-directed framework， which can contribute to the information literacy education practice in social media age.
