英文摘要 | With statistical analysis and comparison, this paper discussed the definition, implications, and development trend of the ratio of administrators and administrative staff to faculty in universities, based on a sample of nine first-rate universities in the United States t and explored the relationship between the ratio and administrative expansion in universities. The results indicated that the ratio reflected not only the size and scale of a university but also its characteristics such as organizational nature 5 resource allocation, and power structure. In the end? the paper warned against size pitfalls in university expansion and proposed establishing indicators including the administrator-faculty ratio and the faculty-student ratio? so as to monitor and evaluate the size and scale of universities from different dimensions. |
