略论中美庚款对西南联大经费的重要支持

A Brief View on the Importance of China-America Remitted Boxer Indemnity Fund to the National Southwestern Associated University

西南联大的育才成就离不开一定的物质基础，在抗战的艰难环境下，中美庚款从补助联大开办费、 补助联大日常经费、补助联大研究院、继续维持留美公费生选派四个方面对西南联大的教学和科研活动作了巨 大的支持。而且，由于中美庚款运作具有相对的独立性和自主性，也在一定程度上保障了西南联大在国民党统 制教育的环境中坚持一定的自主性、独立性空间。

The National Southwestern Associated University (NSAU) was the greatest university in modern China， and its tremendous educational achievements could not have been made without a good financial basis. During the rough time of the Anti-Japanese War， the China-America Remitted Boxer Indemnity Fund played a key role for the NSAU in four areas: subsidizing organizational costs， covering daily expenses， financing the operation of the Graduate School， and maintaining the Boxer Indemnity Scholarship Program and supporting Chinese students studying in the United States. Moreover， with its relative independence and autonomy in operation， the Fund also achieved some independence and autonomy for the NSAU under Kuo Min Tang's control of education.
